"I slept 4 hrs and waited like an idiot. I waited for this Game like a drug addict.
But when I read the Forums and about the lag issues, I had my worries.
Well, in a few minutes I´ll see for myself
Defragging Files momentarily.
Well...I think I don´t need to start a new thread to write my experience and opinion so far, so I just push this one up.
Erm, where do I start? At first:
I was EAGERLY awaiting Black Ops. I played all the CoD Games and since MW1 I played them all online, too. (Basically MW1,WaW and MW2, the last one for ~1287hrs in the MP...) And when I see what was going on in the forums the last few days, I know I wasn´t the only one who wanted to play this game so badly...
Well, I live in Germany. I pre-ordered the UK-Version about 2 or 3 months ago. A few weeks (2 or 3?) ago, I heard that Activision (or whoever, actually I don´t care whose fault that was...German politics were always prude, but this time it went to far with not even the possibility to unlock an imported game).
Well, I thought that it maybe just would not be true, and I took the risk to not cancel my pre-order. Meanwhile I was even more eager to play the game and since 2 or 3 weeks before release I read hundreds of forum pages, watched countless youtube videos and read every fact there is to know about Black Ops.
Just to get to today...
I shorten it now:
As some people I didn´t like the fact that ppl with retail Versions got to play it first. Here in Germany 10hrs before Steam Release. (Btw.: I got the US-Version gifted from a friend in the US and started the pre-load a few days ago and still I get my UK-Black Ops Version...I collect the Boxes actually...even though I am everything else but rich I wanted it!)
Now, I waited until around 1am and went then to bed, stood up at around 7am, watched the forums and waited until it got 8.
Well, as quoted above, I read that there were hundreds of ppl complaining about lags and stutterings and I wanted to see for myself.
But I got lucky. I have to admit: The Game isn´t that optimized.
I got an i5 ´dunno what´, Nvidia GTX275, 4Gigs Ram. Everything maxed out.
First experience --> Menu wasn´t lagging. What a relief.
Then in the Game --> Processor went pretty hot. I played from ~9am until 17:30pm without a break (i do not count the endless Spams I got from my Steam friendslist because almost everyone was asking and spamming me stuff while i played ) through the SP Campaign. The processor was constant hot, I got no lags or stuff like that. But sometimes when pretty much stuff was going on the screen, I got frame rate drops. As I said, not well optimized, will probably be fixed in new Driver Updates for the GPU´s and maybe from the Treyarch guys. That said, to the Game itself:
I played it on Hard for my first playthrough...what can I say?
The AI of my virtual teammates sucked and the AI of the enemies, well...decent I think. They hit pretty good, go behind cover and flush you out with grenades. I don´t think that the CoD KI is all that bad as ppl in reviews tend to say.
The story was fun, but sometimes a bit predictable. The graphics were sweet, some really nice FX here and there. The Stealth Sections were not as cool as I imagined, but okay. At least you can go underwater sometimes :P
Hmm, I thought there were not that many weapons, also. I didn´t liked them so much, too.
Was nice to see Reznov and another Cameo from WaW. The Missions were nice, the helicopter and boat sequence, well, the same...nice.
All in all I would round up the game as nice. The Singleplayer. The Zombie Mode, well, I wasn´t a big fan of it in WaW although I love Zombies. It is basically the same here what many of you probably already know.
Nothing new except for the maps.
I encountered a few Bugs here and there. 1 annoying Soundbug and some AI Bugs. Not that drastic. Hmkay, I wrote too much already, that´s why now to the MP Part.
Oh Boy was I disappointed as I started it. I know, there is many stuff to be fixed! Especially the servers. EVERY Server I went on was laggy. Unplayable. I played anyways. Ranked up to lvl 8 and then lost it, because this cr*ap wouldn´t save my stats (probably the fault of Steam or the Servers? dunno, don´t want to blame blind, but it sucked!)
2nd: When there is too much going on, on the servers - especially on the smaller maps - it gets chaotic and the lucker with the most spray kills wins. @ least in FFA. MP5k und Steady Aim = no Need to ADS
The graphics are pretty demanding I think. Even BFBC2 doesn´t make my CPU that hot -.- Not to talk about MW2 which runs without any issues. Dunno if that will get fixed.
I know I haven´t seen everything there is to see in the MP, but for NOW I am disappointed, because my expectations were sky high and this was like a punch in my face. So many flaws for the Game of the Year Candidate @ Release...Fix the Stuff Gameservers/Treyarch, and maybe I will have my fun in the End...phew, sorry for the long text, probably no one will read it anyways, but I wrote it down to feel better and let off some steam"
